Spencer Townsend is the first of our Virgin Money London Marathon 2017 runners! Spencer is a long term supporter and fundraiser of the National Eczema Society, having taken on the Great South Run TWICE as well as the Vitality British 10k in London last year, raising well over a thousand pounds in the process.
This is Spencer's 2nd Marathon, the first being the Paris Marathon last year, which he loved and he has always wanted to do the London run. He trains via road running and treadmill, but has found going to Mike Jones Hurtlocker gym bootcamps in Romford, Essex, incredibly helpful particularly for vital core strengthening.
Spencer is hoping to complete the course in around 5 hours and 20 minutes. He will be supported on the day by wife Anita and son Joshua, along with lots of family and friends. Spencer's inspiration for supporting the National Eczema Society comes from his son Joshua, who suffered from severe eczema in his early years. In Spencer's own words "it's heartbreaking watching Joshua in so much pain".
The whole family is very excited and looking forward to the big day on Sunday, April 23, 2017 so, please show your support for Spencer, by making a donation, no matter how large or small. You can find his Virgin Money Giving page here.
