This National Eczema Week, we’re encouraging the eczema community to speak about their experiences of living with eczema. Join us, and together, Let’s Start the Conversation.

This week we’ll be sharing content that not only reflects the challenges people with eczema face, but also celebrates the courage and strength of our inspirational community.

Living with eczema is more than just managing skin flare-ups and applying emollients; it can significantly impact mental health and overall well-being.

All too often, members of our community manage their eczema privately, don’t receive adequate support and can be left struggling with their mental health.

That’s why we’re encouraging supportive conversations, at school, in the workplace and at home. It’s incredibly important to talk about how we’re feeling, support one another, and remind those living with eczema that support is always available.

How you can get involved:

Let’s start the conversation, at school, at work and at home. Whether for yourself, or the benefit of a loved one, it’s incredibly important to take the time to reflect on how you’re feeling and discuss this with someone you feel comfortable speaking with. Perhaps you’re looking to make your classroom or workspace more inclusive? Or you realise you haven’t checked in with a loved one living with eczema recently. Help start the conversation, offer support and implement changes to make life easier for those living with eczema.

Coming soon – Someone I know is struggling with their mental health, how can I support them? There’s a lot of additional factors to consider when someone is living with a eczema. Their skin care regime, what clothes they can wear, what activities they can or can’t do, it often affects every aspect of their lives, and the lives of those around them. Sometimes we all need a bit of extra support. Dr Ella Guest, Chartered Psychologist, has recommended a bank of resources to support you with the mental impact of living with eczema. Take a look.

Read Dan and Natalie’s stories. Our incredible eczema heroes have gone above and beyond to raise awareness about the physical, mental and emotional impact of living with eczema. From the Great North Run to an incredible 142km challenge event, hear how members of the eczema community are challenging themselves in the name of eczema! Are you interested in carrying out your own challenge event? Get in touch with the National Eczema Society team and email fundraising@eczema.org.

We want the eczema community to come together and feel supported and able to share when we’re struggling, feel empowered to share our experiences, and recognise the physical and mental impact that eczema can have on people and their support systems.

Let’s start the conversation.
