Tim’s Eczema Story

I developed eczema late in life, at 58 years old, and it has come as a big shock.

My eczema started on my wrists and has now spread to my whole body with spots and sore patches and the itch. Oh, my goodness the itch!

I can quite honestly say that it has taken over my life.

Red inflamed patches on the shoulder of a white person.

Since having eczema, it has impacted my confidence, and it has taken me a long time to even mention it to my friends and family.

But what has shocked me is the little understanding of this condition, which affects so many people.

After going to my doctor and then private I was prescribed steroids to manage the skin inflammation.

I have been surprised at how many people suffer from this condition.

1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults. Around 8 million people in the UK.

We must do more to find out what the cause is instead of saying “it’s just one of those things”.

We need to start talking more about eczema, to help raise awareness of the condition.
