National Eczema Society is taking part in an exciting international initiative aiming to set out what ‘good eczema care’ looks like from a patient and caregiver perspective. This is called the Global Patient Initiative for Optimal Eczema Care.

The initiative, facilitated by Global Parents for Eczema Research, involves patient organisations from eight countries. National Eczema Society is contributing views and experiences of people with eczema from the UK.

From surveys and other feedback, we know there is often a gap between what matters most to people with eczema and the focus of healthcare professionals and health services. Factors such as long waits for appointments, being listened to, effectiveness of treatments and emotional well-being are a big worry for many people with eczema.

The project aims to develop measures for healthcare services and treatment satisfaction that reflect patient views, and to produce policy recommendations from the perspective of people who live with eczema. See here for more informaton.
